Dying Matters Week and bereavement support for residents

Across mid and south Essex, hospices, CCGs, local authorities and our local Healthwatch organisations are working together on a joint awareness campaign for Dying Matters Week starting this Monday, 11 May and running till 17 May.

Exploring how we feel about death can help us to be better prepared for and understand what a ‘good death’ might look like for us. As part of Dying Matters Week the CCGs and hospices have been working closely with their local partners to host a series of virtual death cafés.

The events are on the following days and you can find out more by following the links:
Tuesday 12 May
Friday 22 May
Sunday 24 May
Monday 25 May
These events will have representatives from local organisations, leading a discussion about death and bereavement.

The five Mid and South Essex CCGs have also worked with partners to create an extensive list of bereavement services, both those aimed at helping people cope with losing a loved one to COVID-19 and more general bereavement services. The list is available here and you are welcome to share it.
