COVID-19 infections are continuing to fall in each country across the UK.

In the week to 13 May 2022, the percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 ranged from 1 in 60 in Northern Ireland to 1 in 40 in Wales.

Data published today also show the number of deaths due to COVID-19 rose between March and April in England and Wales.

It was the third leading cause of death in April 2022 for both England and Wales, accounting 6.1% of all deaths in England and 5.7% in Wales.

The percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 continued to decrease in the latest week in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland (week ending 13 May 2022). 

The estimated percentage of the community population that had COVID-19 was: 

  • 1.90% in England (1 in 55 people) 
  • 2.66% in Wales (1 in 40 people) 
  • 1.62% in Northern Ireland (1 in 60 people) 
  • 2.32% in Scotland (1 in 45 people)
