Chelmsford City Council area including South Woodham Ferrers & surrounds advised to get tested because of new Covid-19 variant

Cases of the Variant of Concern B.1.617.2 (‘the Indian Variant’) have been detected in Chelmsford. Please see the following statement about this from Essex County Council, Essex Director of Public Health & Public Health England: https://www.essex.gov.uk/news/chelmsford-residents-advised-get-tested-to-keep-new-covid-19-variant-in . Whilst the cases are centred around the City itself, it is recognised that people from around the area travel in so everyone in South Woodham Ferrers and all the surroundings to Chelmsford take the LFD tests. This is in conjunction with the encouragement for everyone to take LFD tests regularly all the time at present.

SWF Library is distributing self-testing kits whenever the Library is open (Tuesdays 0845-1900, Wednesdays 0845-1300, Thursdays 0845-1730, Fridays 0845-1730 & Saturdays 0900-1700; closed Sundays & Mondays). You can collect Lateral Flow Tests which are quick and easy to use; our report about this is at: https://swfhealthsocial.co.uk/2021/04/21/swf-library-to-begin-distributing-self-testing-kits-from-23-april/ . These testing kits are also available from the Town’s pharmacies.
