The Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust has set up a helpline for patients whose treatment has been delayed/deferred during the current pandemic. The trust’s Basildon and Southend Hospital sites are already offering a Cancer Support Line, with Broomfield Hospital’s starting in the next few weeks.
Each site has a dedicated team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Lead Cancer Nurse and an administrator working on the Cancer Support Line alongside their usual duties. The support line is designed to give patients and carers another avenue of contact, giving them a chance to share any concerns they may have with a healthcare professional. The teams have the tools to give advice and refer to external services if required.
