People Advising the Hospice (PATH) – February Meeting Update

Thanks so much to those who were able to attend the meeting on 13th February. It was a good turn out, and a rather beautiful venue!

Please see attached a copy of the presentation, and the notes containing the ideas we discussed. I have also updated the Feedback Tracker, as shown at the meeting.

The Maldon Site

As promised, you are all invited to visit our new premises in Maldon prior to any works being completed across 3 open days. On these days, the building will be open from 9-4pm, please pop along at any point of the day to have a look around. Address; 49A&B Mill Road, Maldon, CM9 5FT.

We are holding open days on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, 25 February
  • Friday, 28 February
  • Monday, 2 March

Please note that parking is limited, there are a few parking spaces at the rear of the premises which will be marked as Farleigh Parking on the open days.  If these are full you can park in the Promenade car park (pay and display)  or you may find some street parking around. Please do not park in the resident parking bays of Maldon Housing Association, which you will pass through on your way to Farleigh’s parking places.

The Garden Project

Your opinion please; At Farleigh Hospice we have been working on developing the gardens surrounding Farleigh Hospice to be a community garden and to be become a special place for patients, carers, families and staff to enjoy. We have designed 6 distinctive areas with the aim of creating both a safe environment and improving wellbeing where volunteers, patients and community groups can all be involved.

These areas include:

  1. Labyrinth – a garden labyrinth to create a pathway to healing
  2. Sensory garden – to inspire the senses encourage touch, smell, taste
  3. Walled memory garden –  memory tree contemplation area
  4. Wildflower Meadow/cutting garden – to encourage wildlife to flourish and create changing views.  To encourage active participation, creating a calming effect – a specific benefit to dementia sufferers.
  5. Fairy Garden for childrento enjoy.
  6. Vegetable Garden – ongoing development including planting and harvesting of the beds

To complete this project we are applying for funding and we require feedback from the local community to make our funding applications as strong as possible. We would be very grateful if you would let us have your opinion, by completing the survey by clicking on the link here.

The PATH group and their opinions are extremely valuable to us and will guide us regarding the development of this project. We would be very grateful if you could please complete this questionnaire before the 27th Feb 2020.

Thank you for your time, it is very much appreciated.

The next PATH meeting will our annual “Meet the CEO” and will be held on Friday 5th June from 7pm until 9pm and is currently booked to take place at Farleigh Hospice. If it is appropriate, this location may change to the new Maldon site, you will be advised if this happens.

If you have any questions or feedback, then please drop me a line.
