Our first CQC report as a merged organisation

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) published its first report on our merged organisation.

The CQC visited in August and September this year, inspecting urgent and emergency care, medicine, maternity and surgery. It also carried out a ‘Well Led’ inspection.

We have been rated as Requires Improvement, with a Good rating for the care provided. Inspectors praised staff for focusing on the needs of patients and highlighted outstanding practice in the care of COVID-19 patients by the same-day emergency care service at Basildon Hospital.

We know that there are on-going issues that we need to address; inspectors found staffing challenges across the Trust, mandatory training rates were not as high as they should be, and there was a mixed culture across the organisation.
