Update : Number of Covid deaths in SWF

Content originally from Office for National Statistics

An interactive map released by the ONS (Office for National Statistics) has shown that 44 people have sadly died from Covid in South Woodham Ferrers.

The increases due to Covid deaths registered in February 2021 are:

  • SWF 12
  • Danbury & Bicknacre 7
  • West Dengie 5
  • Rettendon & Runwell 6

These are still very bad with some up and some down on January but still shocking numbers. This shows how serious the situation has continued to be and sadly the data for March may also be bad as the time lag from infection to serious illness, hospitalisation, transfer to ICU and deaths continues.

The data shows the number of deaths registered in the period March 2020 to February 2021, where Covid was the main, underlying cause on the death certificate.

As local data is only available up to February, the numbers of deaths in the map will not reflect the latest trends. In particular, patterns may not reflect those seen in the most recent case numbers, as a death from COVID-19 will be reported some time after a positive test. March data will be added to the map on 22 April 2021.
