Health and wellbeing matters with Dr Pete Scolding

Have you ever signed up for a gym membership and then never found the time to go? Or perhaps tried to give up alcohol for Dry January and tried to avoid chocolate biscuits for Lent? While all great intentions, I think we all know, what really counts is making those positive changes that last.

In this email, I will be talking about the secrets of long lasting change by creating tiny habits that will build up over time to give positive results.

Have you found that your motivation to make positive health changes can go up and down?  The good news is that’s totally normal. Years and years of research into behaviour change has found that if we want to make long term changes, we need to turn our behaviours into habits. Creating new habits mean less physical and mental energy is needed.

The even better news is there is loads of FREE support and advice available to help you to figure out what will work best for you.

This week, I want to highlight the stop smoking services that are available for anyone wanting to change bad habits into positive habits.

WHY? It’s a tragic fact that half of all smokers will die from a smoking-related illness, some in their 40s. But it is never too late to quit for yourself and for your family.

Stopping smoking is the single biggest step you can take to improve your health and reduce your risks of illnesses such as heart disease, cancer and COPD – a group of debilitating respiratory diseases that cause breathing difficulties.
