We’ve launched a new video to help you understand what happens during breast screening and why it matters. Whether you’re waiting for your first invitation or haven’t been for a while, this short film takes you through every step of the process.

Why breast screening is so important

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Screening helps catch it early when treatment works best, which can save lives.

We know that attending can feel daunting. Many women tell us they worry about pain, feel anxious, or aren’t sure what to expect. That’s exactly why we made this video – to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

Sarah , a local resident in Essex recently attended her first screening. She told us:

“I was recently invited to attend my first breast screening and wasn’t sure what to expect. However, the lovely, friendly radiographer instantly put me at ease, explaining everything every step of the way. I’m a busy mum who runs her own business – I could easily have not taken the time to make this appointment, but I made sure I did. It’s so important for peace of mind.”
