Know Your Numbers Week 2023:Make time to ease the pressure

It’s that time of the year again when we are excited to kick off “Know Your Numbers Week” for 2023. This week-long event is aimed at raising awareness about the importance of monitoring and understanding your blood pressure levels – an essential part of maintaining good health and preventing serious illnesses.

This year’s theme, “Make Time, Ease the Pressure” encourages us all to take the time to focus on our health and reduce the stressors in our lives. Monitoring your blood pressure regularly can be a first step to easing the pressure and can help prevent conditions like heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease.

I am pleased to share Steph’s story, a local resident from Essex, who took control of her health by monitoring her blood pressure at home and making crucial lifestyle changes. With the support of a Health and Wellbeing Coach, Steph has lost over 4 stone in a year and improved her blood pressure, setting an inspiring example for us all. You can read more about Steph’s inspiring journey by clicking the button below.

I would also like to highlight the NHS Community Pharmacy Blood Pressure Check Service, an initiative that provides free blood pressure checks for individuals over the age of 40. This service aims to identify undiagnosed hypertension, promote healthy behaviours, and refer those with high blood pressure to general practice for ongoing care.

Find your local pharmacy

Whether it’s checking your blood pressure regularly at home or at your local pharmacy, the important thing is to know your numbers and understand what they mean for your health.
