No decision has been made regarding the relocation of any services at St Peters Hospital

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT HAS BEEN ISSUED BY MID AND SOUTH ESSEX INTEGRATED CARE BOARD …

Contrary to rumours circulating locally no decision has been made regarding the relocation of any services at St. Peter’s Hospital in Maldon.

Staff and local partners are aware of the challenges of delivering care within an old building and the limitations posed by its aging infrastructure.

It would require significant renovations to ensure the facility can effectively meet the future needs of healthcare provision.

Our commitment lies in providing the best possible healthcare services to the people of Maldon and its surrounding areas and we need to explore the options for how services might be re-provided in the future.

We are already investing in measures to extend and improve primary care facilities to ensure local health services including blood tests and X-rays remain accessible to the residents of Maldon.

By strengthening this existing provision, we intend to sustain comprehensive and efficient healthcare that meets the evolving needs of a growing community.

A number of the services operating from St. Peter’s Hospital do cater for a broader population beyond Maldon and these will need to be examined very carefully before any proposals on possible alternatives to the present arrangements emerge.

Residents and their representatives may be assured that no decisions have or will be made without formal engagement with staff, the public, and other stakeholders.

Our system values the input and expertise of all those involved in delivering and receiving healthcare services, and we are committed to transparent planning and decision-making processes that consider the community we serve.

The duty and shared commitment of all the NHS organisations involved will always be to ensure that the people of Maldon and the surrounding areas receive high-quality, accessible healthcare both now and in the future.
