It’s never easy to talk about suicide, but the more we talk, the more we remove the stigma around it and can hopefully be there when someone is feeling overwhelmed, scared and confused by their emotions.
Talking to someone in a responsible and caring way can make a real difference and our #LetsTalkAboutSuicideEssex campaign and free 20 minute suicide prevention training is helping to remove the stigma and raise awareness of suicide. By taking our free Let’s Talk Suicide training you too can start to make a make a difference.
By taking 20 minutes of your time, you will be able to:
- See the problem,
- Say the words
- Signpost someone who is in distress to the right support.
You will then have the information, knowledge and confidence to talk to someone who might be at risk of or thinking about suicide, whether it’s a family member, friend, colleague or a stranger.
The Let’s Talk Suicide campaign has been created by Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System and Thurrock and Brentwood Mind, to ensure that we can all make a difference to someone’s life, as every life lost is one too many.
There’re lots of other resources and information available on the https://letstalkaboutsuicideessex.co.uk/resources but if it’s an emergency and you’re concerned about someone’s wellbeing, please call 999 immediately. Also, if you or someone you know is in crisis, call NHS 111 and select mental health crisis service – Option 2.
