Summer news from #YourLocalMind

Content originally from Mid and North East Essex Mind

Welcome to the summer edition of our newsletter that showcases all the work being delivered by Mid & North East Essex Mind.

Last month we experienced the hottest temperatures that the UK has ever recorded. I know this impacted on us all very differently, but I hope you all kept well and hydrated! Taking that into consideration, you will see that we have our annual Firewalk event taking place on World Mental Health Day, with the coals being somewhat hotter than last month. If you haven’t done this before I’ve been reliably informed this is extremely invigorating….Why not give it a go yourself and support your local mental health charity?

In addition, we have also launched a new service in partnership with other local Minds within the area. This is an exciting collaboration that brings us closer together within the Mind network and allows us to provide support to young people in Mid Essex, something that is much needed.

You will also see Simon’s story which is a powerful, open, and honest lived experience piece that shows we can all be impacted by poor mental health at any stage of life.

I’d like to add a big thank you to all our staff, partners and those that fund us for their continued support in all that we do. There is so much hard work that takes place in order that care and support can be available to you when needed.

I hope you enjoy reading this edition and please feel free to search our website for more information on what we do across the region.

Simon’s Story
During Men’s Health Week we spoke to Simon Tuck, Social Media Manager at Harwich & Parkeston Football Club, to ask why he thinks it’s important more men reach out for support if they are struggling with a mental health problem.
