Dying Matters Week is a national awareness week focussed on importance of talking about dying, death and bereavement. Across the country the Dying Matters organisation and coalition members have an unparalleled opportunity to place death, dying and bereavement firmly on the national agenda.

The week will run from 11th to the 17th of May however our activity will run outside of that.

This year’s overarching theme is “Dying to be Heard”.

During this time, having crucial conversations about death and dying has never been more important. The things we might take for granted at the end of life are often no longer possible and experience for loved ones is very different to that of just a few months ago.

Through this years Dying Matters Week it is our intention to bring focus towards the national 5 daily themes outlined below, with additional themes around Covid-19, key workers and terminal illness:

We hope to engage and support people to understand the need to listen and give confidence ‘to be heard’ by encouraging conversation.
